HELD January 9, 2014


The regular business meeting of the Board of Directors of the Ken-Caryl Art Guild was held on January 9, 2014 at the Rox Bar & Grill, 12684 West Indore Place, Littleton CO.



Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 6:10 pm.




Steve McCall, Susan Hilberg, Gail Firmin, Michele Sires-DeLorean, Judy Ahlborn.

Approval of Minutes

A motion was made by Steve McCall to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2013 Board meeting. Minutes were approved without edits.



Treasurer Susan Hilberg did not report a financial balance.


Committee Reports



An updated membership directory was sent to the Board by Secretary Michele Sires-DeLorean reflecting the loss of one member.



Ronnie Seagren was voted in as Dir of Programs, after accepting that position via email from Michele Sires-DeLorean. In Ronnie's absence, Michele Sires-DeLorean indicated that Tarik Ocon of TahoeMedia would be our February presenter.



Reporting for Barbara Williams, Gail encouraged members to respond with their entries to the January "Abstracts" show at Rox and solicited suggestions for additional exhibit venues for 2014, as Miner's Alley and Deer Creek were no longer available. Earlier this month Barbara Williams sent members a list of proposed exhibits for 2014, including Rox and the April exhibit at the South Union Gallery in Lakewood.


Public Relations

Gail Firmin reported the PR efforts for the January program with Leilija Roy. Michele Sires-DeLorean clarified the process whereby the Dir of Programs will provide marketing copy to Gail three to four weeks prior to the upcoming program. Gail requested the file for printing additional Guild brochures.



Judy Ahlborn requested updates re: future programs and minutes to be placed on the website. The Board also requested that the amended 2013-2014 membership app and new member survey be made available to prospective members.


Art Appreciation

Bruce Nall reported via email: He continues to send out all Open Art Calls and requests that members alert him to the same.

The next member art appreciation event will probably be the The City of Littleton Fine Arts Board 48th Annual Eye of the Camera Photography Exhibition reception on February 20, 2014 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

He contacted the person behind the "Englewood Depot living museum project" (http://www.englewooddepot.com/) who is willing to assist anyone wanting to produce "hand pulled" prints using his press equipment. This might be an opportunity for a printmaking workshop-field trip.

Communication/Discussion Items


Holiday party (December 12) at the Manor House was a success. Pres Steve McCall dropped off our donations to the Denver Metro Boys & Girls Club.


The Guild will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary at the February 13th scheduled meeting time with cake and champagne. No business will be conducted at that time. Our regularly scheduled program will follow.



Action Items


Steve McCall will confirm with Rox the reservation of our meeting room.


Steve McCall, Susan Hilberg and Michele Sires-DeLorean will purchase items for the 10th Anniversary event.


Michele Sires-DeLorean will create a Certificate of Honorary Membership to be given to program presenters.
