KCAG Congratulations!

KCAG 2016 Holiday Party

A nice time was had by all at the 2016 Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 7th, at the Meadows Golf Club.


Black Arts Cellars Exhibit

The opening reception for the current Black Arts Cellars exhibit was Saturday, November 19th.


Sandra Clark - Speaker for the KCAG November 2016 Meeting

Our speaker for our November meeting was Sandra Clark. Sandra is a self proclaimed Technique Junkie. She is motivated by technique and growing up did everything from cake decorating to crochet and quilting. Art Deco and Op Art styles influence her current love of weaving and surface design.


KCAG Congratulations!

Peg Hart had three of her colored pencil drawings juried into the Mountainside Art Guild National Small Works show, this year exhibited in the 40 West Arts Main galleries at 1560 Teller Street in Lakewood, 80214. This exhibition features 150 small works including 28 from out of state. The exhibition ran through October 7th.

Michele Sires DeLorean reports that two of her ink paintings have been juried into the Heritage Fine Arts Guild of Arapahoe County’s “This is Colorado 2016” annual statewide exhibit, and will be on view from October 11 - November 3 at the Colorado Gallery of the Arts, Arapahoe Community College.

Ken Oliva reported that he obtained a commission stemming from our booth at the Roxborough State Park Fair back in June. The sculpture is similar to one that was on display, but teal colored rather than black. Visit Ken's Facebook page "Faces of Ken Oliva" for a look at the work.

Judith Ahlborn had two pieces accepted into FRCQ's Rejuvenation Exhibit at the First United Methodist Church in Boulder. The exhibit ran from August 28th to September 24th.

Judy Sears - Speaker for the KCAG October 2016 Meeting

Our speaker for our October meeting was Judy Sears. She showed us her works based on bible stories where she sees her images in her mind and then sketches them. By concentrating on the lines, her work becomes very healing and theraputic. She edits her drawings with her phone and computer photo editing software programs.

KCAG was well represented at Kaleidoscope!
We had four members with works at the Colorado Gallery of the Arts ACC Annual Kaleidoscope Juried Exhibition! Gail Firmin and Steve McCall received Honorable Mentions. The closing reception was Thursday, August 11, 5-7pm.

Michele Sires-Delorean won First Place at the Wild Show. It was her first blue ribbon award and money!

Andrea Hoehn - Speaker for the KCAG September 2016 Meeting

Our speaker for our September meeting was Andrea Hoehn. She shared her story from working with glass fusing to painting with glass powders.


KCAG Congratulations!

Steve Begej had an image of his artwork titled "Camille's Purse" selected as one of ten finalists for a contemporary art contest sponsored by Although he did not advance beyond the top ten finalist list, it was an honor to be included at that level, and he appreciates those who lent their support by voting for him.

Two of Steve Begej new pieces were accepted into the 31st Annual Fine Arts Show at the Louisville Center for the Arts located at 801 Grant Ave. The pieces are "Exuberance No. 19" (flute) and "Exuberance No. 21" (viola)
- see The show was from Saturday, Sept. 3 to Sunday, Sept. 11, with an opening reception on Sept. 3 from 6 to 9pm.

At a recent first Friday art walk in Littleton, Cindy Marshall sold her series of four "Love" hearts, In Love, Broken, On the Mend and Mended. She also sold a piece at the May first Friday titled "Raindrops".

Michele Sires-Delorean's, “Night Visions”, was selected for the WILD Colorado Art Show, sponsored by Roxborough Arts Council and the Audubon Society of Greater Denver. Reception June 17 6-8 pm. at the Audubon Nature Center on S Waterton Canyon Rd.

Congratulations to Diana Perkins for her bronze Zelda which has been juried into the Lincoln Gallery Fine Art Guild Regional show in Loveland, June 7 - June 30. Reception June 10.

Black Arts Cellars Exhibit

The opening reception for the current Black Arts Cellars exhibit was Saturday, August 6th.


KCAG Congratulations!

Bruce Nall had 3 sculptures selected for "Malfunction" an art show at Good Thieves Press in Denver. His sculpture, "Guarded" won a 2nd place award.

Lakewood Cultural Center's Lakewood Arts' "Artist Choice" Exhibit -- Barbara Cagniase, Barbara Williams and Gail Firmin had pieces in the show. Gail's "Samaras" won a merit award. The show ran through July 22.

KCAG Congratulations!

Gail Firmin had a colored pencil piece in the 40West Exhibit, "Drip". located at Teller and Colfax, through the end of June, and an alcohol ink on YUPO piece was juried into the "All Colorado Show" at the Greenwood Village Curtis Arts and Humanities Center. The show runs June 11-July 29 with the opening reception Saturday, June 11 from 5:30-7.

Bob Klimek - Speaker for the KCAG June 2016 Meeting

Our speaker for our June meeting was Bob Klimek from the Colorado School of Mines music department. He spoke of Nature, Art, Beauty, and Virtue, and challenging ourselves as artists to create what is welcoming and brings people in.


KCAG Congratulations!

Judith Ahlborn's 'Dome of the Santa Maria del Fiore 2' was accepted into FRCQ's Urban Rhythm Exhibit at the Art Gallery at the DPAC and Backstage Coffee. The opening reception was Friday, May 6th at 7:30. The exhibit will run through July 10th.

Michele Sires-DeLorean has had work accepted for The Art of Mind exhibit at 40West Arts, May 10th to the 21st. Info on the May 11th fundraising event can be found at

Bruce Nall's sculpture, "Your plug or mine" was juried into the "Connections" show at The Bridge Gallery in Colorado Springs. The show is open Saturday's through April 30:

Barbara Cagianese had a picture accepted in the New Trends Exhibit to be displayed at one of the area hospitals.

Michele Sires-DeLorean has had two works accepted in WOW 2016 at CORE New Art Space, 900 Santa Fe Drive, on exhibit through Feb 28.

Ronnie Seagren sold one photo at the COSine art show.

Cindy Marshall sold 5 prints in December and 3 in November at her Kindred Spirits booth in Unlisted, a craft boutique located at University & County Line. She has also been accepted for the Planting the Seeds Mo' Print show at the Lakewood Cultural Center which will run in March.

Roxborough Arts Fair

Members of the Ken Caryl Art Guild exhibited with the Roxborough Arts Fair the first weekend in June.


Erica Hollander - Speaker for the KCAG May 2016 Meeting

Our speaker for our May meeting, Erica Hollander from the Roxborough Arts Council, shared her experience as a member of that group which was formed in 2007. Tom Sarmo - Speaker for the KCAG April 2016 Meeting

Our speaker for our April meeting, Tom Sarmo, shared his inspirations and process for his fun and whimsical caricature illustrations.


KCAG Congratulations!

Congratulations go to Cindy Marshall who had a print accepted at The Art Student League of Denver show Process to Print. The piece is an etching titled "Ollie". The show ran from 11/13-12/11. Artist reception was 12/20. Cindy also had a sale of her artwork at the Black Arts Cellars opening reception!

Kyle Banister - Speaker for the KCAG March 2016 Meeting

Kyle gave us a memorable presentation sharing his wonderful artwork and his experience as an artist overcoming fear, resistance, and being true to oneself.

The opening reception for the Black Arts Cellars Valentine themed exhibit 'Objects of Love' was Saturday, February 13th.

Michele Sires-DeLorean, Barbara Cagianese and Gail Firmin all had art accepted into the 40West "Black, White and Metal" exhibit which ran Dec 1-31, 2015 with an opening reception Friday, Dec 4 5:30-7 at 1560 Teller St. in Lakewood.

Judith Ahlborn exhibited several of her pieces in the "X3, X-Plore, X-Pand, X-Cite" textile art exhibit which ran Nov 17th to Jan 9th at the Castlerock Library, 100 S. Wilcox, Castlerock, CO

Gary Monaco - Speaker for the KCAG February 2016 Meeting

Gary, an artist and sculptor, shared his wonderful artworks, and talked about his background and preferred subjects. Gary works away from the representational image and strives to capture the spiritual and soulfulness of transformational themes. He’s inspired by mythological and creation stories describing the heavens and earth.


Jessie Smith - Speaker for the KCAG January 2016 Meeting

Jessie shared her wonderful artworks of various mediums, and talked of her experience in Antarctica which inspired much of her work.
